The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has provided welding training to more than 800 unemployed youths in Tajikistan since 2012, the agency said in a statement Wednesday.

The training was organized under the Vocational Training and Employment Program which aims to provide vocational education to the poor and unemployed to help them enter Tajikistan's labor market, said TIKA's Dushanbe coordination office.

A welding training center in Dushanbe was established by TIKA in 2012 and has been operating under Tajikistan’s Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment, said the statement.

Turkey’s Education Ministry appointed three experts from its technical drawing department to provide theoretical and practical training in metal design and welding techniques, it said.

In the latest phase of the program, 32 trainees from different parts of Tajikistan attended a workshop between Jan. 15 and Feb. 14, it added.

It also said a certificate presentation ceremony was held at the end of the program which was attended by Tajik and Turkish officials.
