Turkish culture minister said Friday that prominent Indian actor Aamir Khan had shown that it is possible to be an international star outside western cinema.

“In cinema, it is possible to produce films out of the western-only cinema perception and in those films and scenarios it is possible to be a world star. This is what Aamir Khan showed to the world,” said Numan Kurtulmus, after he received Khan in the capital Ankara.

Bollywood star Khan arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday on a special invitation of Turkey to promote his latest film Secret Superstar that will be released worldwide on Oct. 20. On Friday, Khan came to Ankara where he met Kurtulmus.

Khan said: "In the last couple of days that I have been in Turkey, I have received so much love and respect, and it really humbled me and moved me emotionally."

"It gives me great joy that I am able to touch the hearts of people in Turkey in some small way through my work," he added.
