A Moscow court on Friday sentenced Russia's former Economic Development Minister Alexey Ulyukayev to eight years in prison for bribery.

In addition, the court also fined Ulyukayev 130 million rubles ($2.2 million).

Ulyukayev was arrested in 2016 for the charge of taking a $2 million bribe in exchange for positively assessing state-owned oil company Rosneft’s deal to buy the government’s 50 percent stake in the Bashneft oil company.
