Abbas briefs Qatari, Saudi leaders on peace efforts

RAMALLAH

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas held phone conversations Friday with Qatari and Saudi leaders on recent developments in the peace process.

According to official Palestine News and Information Agency (WAFA), Abbas spoke with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman about the recent visit by a U.S delegation headed by President Donald Trump’s senior adviser Jared Kushner and efforts to resume peace talks between Palestine and Israel.

Abbas and Al Thani acknowledged the importance of resuming the negotiations.

In Abbas's conversation with Prince Salman, the two leaders highlighted the significance of consultation in the negotiation process.

Abbas met with members of the U.S. delegation Thursday in Ramallah.

The delegation also visited Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and Egypt.
