Canadian Conservative Senator Tobias Enverga passed away on early Thursday during an official trip to the Canadian Section of ParlAmericas meeting to Colombia, according to his office.

Though still not confirmed, the reason of Enverga's sudden death in the Colombian city of Medellin is believed to be a heart attack.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a written statement said "As a Senator, he continued to actively promote the values of multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusiveness."

"The first Canadian of Filipino descent summoned to the Upper Chamber, Senator Enverga was a proud voice for his community and for the many diverse communities in the Greater Toronto Area," said Canadian Speaker of the Senate George J. Furey in a statement.
