NEW YORK

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a $1.3 trillion spending bill Thursday and sent it to the Senate in an attempt to avoid a government shutdown.

The bill, which will fund the government through Sept. 30, passed the House in a 256-167 vote that will would increase domestic spending for the military.

It will also fund $20 billion infrastructure projects, push states to provide more records for background checks in sale of firearms and fight the opioid crisis in the country.

"Got $1.6 Billion to start Wall on Southern Border, rest will be forthcoming. Most importantly, got $700 Billion to rebuild our Military, $716 Billion next year...most ever," Trump wrote on Twitter.

The bill includes $1.6 billion spending for border security, however it does not allow Trump's wall prototypes to be built.

"Had to waste money on Dem[ocrats] giveaways in order to take care of military pay increase and new equipment," Trump added.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Twitter that Trump "thinks investing in fighting opioid epidemic, serving veterans, & providing child care to working families is 'wasting money.' He’s flat wrong."

The bill provides around $4.6 billion to aid states and local governments on for prevention and treatment in opioid.

The legislation will now head to the Senate where it should be passed before Friday midnight to prevent another shutdown.

The federal government went through two shutdowns during the Trump administration -- in January and February.
