Czech security chief warns against growing dependence on Chinese technologies

The head of the Czech Republic’s National Cyber and Information Security Agency urged the government Sunday to exercise caution over growing dependence on Chinese technologies, Czech Radio reported.

Lukas Kintr reiterated during an online program that the Czech government should be cautious about increasing its reliance on Chinese technologies, according to the report.

Kintr said the state should have a “plan B” in place in case such technologies stop functioning.

He further alleged that China continues to engage in cyber-espionage against Czechia.

The Czech media outlet cited the agency’s annual report as showing a decline last year in the number of recorded cyberattacks, while noting that the attacks had become increasingly sophisticated.

The Czech government said last year that hackers from a group linked to China’s security services had infiltrated the systems of the Czech Foreign Ministry.
