Saudi Arabia issues second all-clear for Najran after brief danger alert

Saudi Civil Defense said Monday that a danger had passed in the southern Najran region, minutes after issuing a warning there for the second time that day.

It urged residents to continue following safety instructions and to avoid gathering or taking photographs.

The agency did not identify the nature of the danger in Najran, which borders Yemen.

Earlier Monday, Civil Defense issued all-clear notices for both Najran and the neighboring Jazan region shortly after warning of danger in the two areas.

Saudi Arabia has faced a series of missile and drone attacks attributed to the Houthis in recent days.

On July 20, the Houthis announced a “maritime blockade” on Saudi Arabia before later claiming missile and drone attacks on Saudi-linked vessels and sites.

Saudi Arabia has led a coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government since March 2015 against the Houthis, who have controlled the capital Sanaa and several provinces since September 2014.
