ANTALYA/DENIZLI/KIRKKALE, Turkey

Anadolu Agency’s 98th anniversary was celebrated across Turkey through various events on Thursday.

In Antalya’s Beskonak district Koprulu Koyun national park, tourists with rafting boats displayed a banner which read: “We celebrate the 98th anniversary of Anadolu Agency”.

Beskonak Karabuk Tourism Development Cooperation head Refik Armagan said Anadolu Agency has a played a great role in promoting Antalya to the world.  

Anadolu Agency’s anniversary was also celebrated in the sky of the western Pamukkale province. At sunrise, tourists from China waved a banner from an air balloon.

“We celebrate Anadolu Agency’s 98th anniversary for its endeavors on fast and objective news services,” said Nevzat Kose, Pamukkale Balloon Operations Manager.

Separately in the northwestern Turkish province of Kirklareli, a Turkish cycling association organized a bicycle tour, of which the slogan was: “Press the pedals for Anadolu Agency”.

A representative said there was a vast number of participants and hailed Anadolu Agency for its objective and fast news service.

He also said the same celebration was held for the 96th anniversary.

Founded on April 6, 1920, 17 days before the Turkish Grand National Assembly (parliament) convened for the first time, Anadolu Agency helped announce the first legislation passed by the Assembly, which established the Turkish Republic.
