CHICAGO (AA) - The BIO (Biotechnology Industry Organization) International Convention which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year took start in US city of Chicago.
Turkey's Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu held the opening of the Turkish pavilion at the fair where Turkey is represented with the attendance of 14 firms, 5 public institutions and two non governmental organizations.
Health Minister Muezzinoglu held several talks with important pharmaceutical companies in the scope of the fair in Chicago and told journalists that he discussed investment opportunities with company representatives in Turkey.
Turkish Minister Muezzinoglu stated firms were seeking for "communications and transparency" and asking for support in order to get over bureaucratic procedures and problems.
Muezzinoglu added, a major US company decided to invest in Turkey within this year and said, they expected more investments from other companies which they held negotiations with.
Within the scope of the fair, Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Investment Support and Promotion Agency (TYDTA) held a discussion panel, "Turkey: Investment centre for growth in Biotechnology" for promoting investment opportunities of Turkey in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry.
Head of TYDTA Ilker Ayci told Anadolu Agency that Turkey was taking part at this global event for biotechnology for the second time and added, participators were paying high attention to the event.
The fair which hosts more than 16 thousand people from 65 different countries will close its doors on April 25.
